Since 2011, the Crown Point community has supported strong schools through responsible local investment. Now, we have the opportunity to renew that commitment—at a lower rate—to ensure our students continue receiving the high-quality education they deserve.

On May 6, 2025, Crown Point voters will decide whether to renew the school funding referendum at a reduced tax rate. This funding is essential to maintaining the high standards of education that make our community a great place to live, work, and raise a family.

Why This Matters

  • Maintaining Student Opportunities - The referendum provides stable funding for academic programs, arts, music, and extracurriculars— all essential for a well-rounded education.
  • Keeping Our Schools Among the Best in the State - Crown Point Schools are recognized among Indiana's top districts. A YES vote ensures continued excellence andkeeps our schools strong.
  • Ensure Taxpayer Savings – This is not a tax increase—in fact, the referendum rate will drop from $0.21 to $0.1828 per $100 of net assessed value, preventing an increase in taxes and ensuring our schools are protected from unpredictable state funding cuts.
  • Retain High-Quality Teachers – Crown Point is a destination district for top educators. The referendum helps us remain competitive in teacher pay and recruitment.
  • Keep Schools Safe – The funding supports student safety initiatives, including security personnel, nursing staff and mental health resources.

A Responsible, Lower Tax Rate

Crown Point has the lowest school referendum tax rate in Lake County. Unlike other districts, we’ve never needed a capital referendum to fund new buildings—because we manage taxpayer dollars responsibly.
This renewal ensures fiscal responsibility while keeping Crown Point schools among the best in Indiana.

Why Now?

Due to state-mandated timing, we must renew the referendum this year. If it does not pass, Crown Point schools will lose critical funding, leading to major budget cuts affecting students, teachers, and programs.

  • Election Day: May 6, 2025
  • Early Voting Begins: April 8, 2025
  • Absentee Ballot Request Deadline: April 28, 2025
  • Voter Registration Deadline: April 7, 2025
